<br />
<br />
My guess is that's what you are all wondering. I know. Bad blogger. You know who I blame. Pinterest. And TV. And kids. And life. And possibly me. Forgive me? How about a tutorial to smooth things over?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GrQD2CYrtNM/T-epRbcEHhI/AAAAAAAAAhE/VazJQfb1BgI/s1600/IMG0005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GrQD2CYrtNM/T-epRbcEHhI/AAAAAAAAAhE/VazJQfb1BgI/s1600/IMG0005.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Let's make some cheap and lovely earrings! These are very, very easy to make. They make excellent gifts and you can make them in any colors you want. Ready to start?<br />
<br />
Supplies:<br />
<br />
Wooden shapes- craft stores sell many different kinds, some with holes some without<br />
Earwires and jump rings<br />
Acrylic paint, or even nail polish works too!<br />
Painters or masking tape<br />
A liquid resin- I used Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (very simple to use)<br />
<br />
First things first, if you bought the wooden shapes without holes. Drill some. I'd suggest doing many at once. Trust me, you'll be making lots of these once you start. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jltKMoOCbGU/T-eqyqh5coI/AAAAAAAAAhM/ndA1f-T4nfA/s1600/100_2215.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jltKMoOCbGU/T-eqyqh5coI/AAAAAAAAAhM/ndA1f-T4nfA/s320/100_2215.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Next start taping off where you want to paint your first color. I did some with multiple colors and some just half colored. Depending how skilled a painter you are, you can just draw lines and follow them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yrVj130Qu-k/T-er65s3XsI/AAAAAAAAAhU/HnySfrChRvI/s1600/100_2217.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="136" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yrVj130Qu-k/T-er65s3XsI/AAAAAAAAAhU/HnySfrChRvI/s320/100_2217.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also used stamps on dried paint which looked lovely also. I don't have pictures of the steps where I added the resin. Its very simple with the Dimensional magic. Cover a sheet pan with foil and place your pendants on the foil, this protects from any spilling. Make sure the paint is dry and then make a border with the medium, using the filling technique for icing cookies. I use a stick pin to pop any bubbles that appear. Don't worry about the holes for jump rings. You can easily poke through the resin after it has dried. Follow the directions for drying/setting time. I like to cover mine with a shoe box to keep stray dust or pet dander from landing in my work!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oBxl9YnyFxM/T-ewzE1kV4I/AAAAAAAAAhg/HfgrWZdmE6Y/s1600/100_2219.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="162" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oBxl9YnyFxM/T-ewzE1kV4I/AAAAAAAAAhg/HfgrWZdmE6Y/s320/100_2219.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Once its all dry slip your jump rings in and add earwires or a chain and wear you art! Did I tell you it was easy!? Here's some photos of my finished masterpieces! You've all seen the fabric flowers with the burned edges, right? Well, I made several of those last winter for gifts. I decided to get a jump on spring and make some in bright colors. Well, silly me, I bought the wrong fabric. This stuff went up in flames!! And smelled horrible to boot! This led me to try something new. Necessity is the mother or invention!</div><div> </div><div>Supplies:</div><div>Polyester Fabric cut into a strip 1 inch by 20 inches cut with pinking shears</div><div>Matching thread</div><div>Matching felt</div><div>Hot glue gun</div><div>Blank pin<br /></div><div> After you've cut your strip sew a running stitch along the bottom of the fabric. No need to be even or neat. As you can tell by my picture. ;)</div><div> </div><div><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2vrTL-9WTDs/T1EY5NJLIhI/AAAAAAAAAf4/8vcVpbDoKKU/s1600/100_2041.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715376773169619474" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2vrTL-9WTDs/T1EY5NJLIhI/AAAAAAAAAf4/8vcVpbDoKKU/s200/100_2041.JPG" /></a> After you've sewn to the end begin to pull your thread gently to cause the fabric to bunch. You want it to be tighter at the beginning and then looser towards the end. Tie off your thread.<br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yHmoY5-LDTQ/T1EY4pCVWMI/AAAAAAAAAfs/HHEcl3liNks/s1600/100_2042.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 171px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715376763477252290" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yHmoY5-LDTQ/T1EY4pCVWMI/AAAAAAAAAfs/HHEcl3liNks/s200/100_2042.JPG" /></a> Cut 1 1/2 inch circles out of your felt. One will be the base of your flower and the other will be for your pin.<br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GWadbrCIlEM/T1EY4HZ3dyI/AAAAAAAAAfg/6vTcMQGgOAM/s1600/100_2043.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 120px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715376754449151778" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GWadbrCIlEM/T1EY4HZ3dyI/AAAAAAAAAfg/6vTcMQGgOAM/s200/100_2043.JPG" /></a> Put a dab of hot glue in the center of your felt. Place the tightly bunched end of your fabric in the glue.<div><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yrW1uUibOJk/T1PAOTPdlEI/AAAAAAAAAgc/QhHSGzSYOGc/s1600/100_2061.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716123703979119682" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yrW1uUibOJk/T1PAOTPdlEI/AAAAAAAAAgc/QhHSGzSYOGc/s200/100_2061.JPG" /></a></div><div>Continue glue and placing the fabric in a circular pattern until you use all the fabric.</div><div> </div><div> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6POC3DjyTZk/T1PAO5YGkOI/AAAAAAAAAgk/by934IpUapI/s1600/100_2062.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 147px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716123714215907554" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6POC3DjyTZk/T1PAO5YGkOI/AAAAAAAAAgk/by934IpUapI/s200/100_2062.JPG" /></a> </div><div> </div><div> Sew your pin blank on the remaining piece of felt and sew the two pieces together at the edges. All done and beautiful! Not too difficult right? I did some experimenting. The longer your strip of fabric is you start with, the fuller the final flower will be. </div><div> </div><div> Thanks for following and reading!</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Margo Tinninhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14925552221802339052noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7070938951231177844.post-26019847837672388112012-01-23T17:17:00.011-06:002012-01-25T01:18:15.145-06:00Making it upSo here's what I've been up to, sweetheart. Its been an exhausting few months for me. I am glad to be putting the last year on a shelf. Do you ever feel that way? Sometimes it seems as if all the rough stuff happens at the end of the year.<br /><br /> In October my maternal grandmother passed away. It was a painful time and her death hit me harder than I had expected. She was 95 and an extraordinary woman. Someday I will dedicate an entire post to her life and what she taught me.<br /> November, things got crazy! I did two craft booths and those can suck up the time, ladies! They are a blast, but exhausting. It feels so good to meet people who enjoy my work and want to talk about making things.<br /> December we all know is madness. I had a booth scheduled at a local bazaar. This event was awesome. Lots of local artists in one place, a handmade mall. Over 600 people passed through the doors! Plus, my sister had her baby! We welcomed my nephew, Dexter, on the sixteenth. Both he and his mom did great and I am one happy aunt!<br /><br />This month the boutique that I sell my items at is closing its doors. Hopefully temporarily. I'm staying positive and have some new opportunities on the horizon. I'll check in with new tutorials as often as I can! I love you all, and am looking forward to sharing all the new changes of 2012!Margo Tinninhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14925552221802339052noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7070938951231177844.post-2683623328226548292011-11-10T16:19:00.003-06:002011-11-10T16:24:45.688-06:00In Flanders Fields<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uQ19qd70Mj8/TrxN5pTBJbI/AAAAAAAAAdM/6tG2qaGLT3A/s1600/Andrea-Kahn-Poppies-in-Sunlight-I-57423.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 164px; height: 200px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5673495283313485234" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uQ19qd70Mj8/TrxN5pTBJbI/AAAAAAAAAdM/6tG2qaGLT3A/s200/Andrea-Kahn-Poppies-in-Sunlight-I-57423.jpg" /></a><br />Every year my mind goes back to this same poem.<br /> I encourage you all to read it and share it. Shocking isn't it? I feel so relieved after today. I love my sister and my cousin but no more double showers! Lots of work. Lots of time. Lots of money. It turned out lovely and everyone had a good time. That's the important part. I felt stressed early on, but even I got to relax and talk with family and friends.</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eVtUSvPSl60/TnaqSZtlPXI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/0rWg7ORFT04/s1600/100_1736.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 147px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653893615326674290" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eVtUSvPSl60/TnaqSZtlPXI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/0rWg7ORFT04/s200/100_1736.JPG" /></a></div><div> </div><div> Here's a close up of the bunting I made using some scrapbook paper. I used my <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Cricut</span> and cut <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">onesie</span> shapes. We strung them on clothesline and hung them using miniature clothespin from a craft store. Can you tell who my sister is? What a ham! It was a yummy cake, half strawberry, half vanilla.</p><p> Instead of games,(I never like <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">shower</span> games) we decorated <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_4" class="blsp-spelling-error">onesies</span> for the girls. This was a lot of work for me! Gathering up the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_5" class="blsp-spelling-error">onesies</span>, paints, iron <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_6" class="blsp-spelling-error">ons</span>, brushes, etc. Not to mention one baby is a girl and the other a boy! That way the babies have hand decorated <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_8" class="blsp-spelling-error">onesies</span> the whole year through. It's really sweet. I'm glad we did it.</p></div></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V3KKl2VCsZs/Tnaur1uLEaI/AAAAAAAAAaw/HdkvOAk1gYA/s1600/100_1734.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653898450388586914" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V3KKl2VCsZs/Tnaur1uLEaI/AAAAAAAAAaw/HdkvOAk1gYA/s200/100_1734.JPG" /></a></div><div> Here is a shot of the table full of finished works! Oh Yeah!<div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OFNxKTWgf5U/TjBRUwyrBrI/AAAAAAAAAX8/Tup07Z4Ig2A/s1600/100_1562.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 135px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634092550977160882" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OFNxKTWgf5U/TjBRUwyrBrI/AAAAAAAAAX8/Tup07Z4Ig2A/s200/100_1562.JPG" /></a><div><div><div><div><div><br /></div><div><div>Hello Beautiful!</div><div> Remember the tutorial I showed you on T-shirt scarves <a href="http://http://margoiscrafty.blogspot.com/2011/01/t-shirt-scarf-tutorial.html">here</a>. Well, these 100+ degree temps haven't been scarf friendly. How about we swap them for necklaces instead? I thought you'd like that!</div><div> If you have a scarf already finished simply snip off four loops of the scarf. Fold them and half and cut three so you have six equal pieces of jersey. If you are starting with a untouched T-shirt, lay it flat and cut off the bottom hem. Now cut four more loops from the bottom of the shirt. Cut through three loops so you have six equal pieces of T-shirt. I hope that made sense. </div><div> Gather six ends together and stitch them together as so.</div><div> </div><div> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_yQpVvFtPz8/TjBKT4dkh5I/AAAAAAAAAXM/jNP0LIb0Mrw/s1600/100_1550.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634084839274874770" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_yQpVvFtPz8/TjBKT4dkh5I/AAAAAAAAAXM/jNP0LIb0Mrw/s200/100_1550.JPG" /></a></div><div> I doesn't need to be pretty just, secure. Time for beads. You can use wooden beads, glass, beads, or pony beads. I found <font id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">some</font> cute plastic star beads I had stashed away. Unfortunately they were hideously colored. Spray paint to the rescue! After painting them a soft gray(because that's what I had) I strung them on the T-shirt strands in a semi-organized fashion. Mainly, I made sure that each strand had a decent number. Once that was done I sewed together the other ends.</div><div> Now take your spare loop that you cut. Snip it in to three equal strands and sew these together at the end. Braid them.</div><div> </div></div><p><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5fCG1JJRsRM/TjBL7rtK94I/AAAAAAAAAXU/cxlltcKIr0A/s1600/100_1551.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 124px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634086622557042562" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5fCG1JJRsRM/TjBL7rtK94I/AAAAAAAAAXU/cxlltcKIr0A/s200/100_1551.JPG" /></a><br /><br /> The length of the braid depends on where you want your necklace to fall. I made my braid long enough so that the necklace could slip over my head. Measure and decide how long is long enough. When you get there, sew the ends together and trim off the excess. Save these scraps!<br /> Sew your braid to your beaded strands. Once again, security over beauty, we are going to cover this up.</p><p><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-agbkcK63dt0/TjBNvGX987I/AAAAAAAAAXc/5Z-paeDmoKs/s1600/100_1552.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 142px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634088605400822706" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-agbkcK63dt0/TjBNvGX987I/AAAAAAAAAXc/5Z-paeDmoKs/s200/100_1552.JPG" /></a></p><p> Let's cover it up fast! <font id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">Remember</font> those scraps I told you to save? Time to make a hair accessory! This horrible heat makes me want to shave all of my hair off. Maybe pulling it up in a cute clip will keep my mind off it for one more day. Maybe...</div><div> </div><div> First off I'll tell you what you need: </div><div> - 1 sheet felt acrylic/wool</div><div> - liquid fabric stiffener approx 1/4 cup</div><div> - needle and thread</div><div> - spring back clip/ hair comb</div><div> - scissors</div><div> </div><div> Step one cut your petals. You need fifteen of the long petals and three of the small ones. After they are cut separate the long in to groups of five. These are our layers.</div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s5c0RFmteVY/TiXSmeN9QII/AAAAAAAAAVs/hj7kWPzeew8/s1600/100_1541.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 106px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631138467485139074" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s5c0RFmteVY/TiXSmeN9QII/AAAAAAAAAVs/hj7kWPzeew8/s200/100_1541.JPG" /></a><br /> Step two, with a length of thread start a running stitch in the first petal of the first layer.</div><div><div> </div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-230IrRyc_i8/TiXYIFH33wI/AAAAAAAAAWU/-1FaO0Tpdgk/s1600/100_1542.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 144px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631144542422425346" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-230IrRyc_i8/TiXYIFH33wI/AAAAAAAAAWU/-1FaO0Tpdgk/s200/100_1542.JPG" /></a> </div><div> Continue with the same thread through the rest of the petals in the first group. When finished, pull, the thread tight, carefully. The petals will form into a circle when the thread is tightened. Sew a few stitches to connect the first and last petals together. Complete the two other groups the same way.<br /><a s1600="" lkukmo0vumk="" tixawpaofoi="" aaaaaaaaawc="" fnfmpdvroi=""><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 150px; height: 200px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631146984726861442" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LKUKMO0VUmk/TiXaWPaoFoI/AAAAAAAAAWc/-fNfMpDVROI/s200/100_1543.JPG" /></a></div><div> </div><div> Step three, place your three layers on top of <font id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">eachother</font>. Make sure you stagger the petals to give your lotus more depth. Stitch these layers together.</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yDO--Cap5dI/TiXbuX3_H8I/AAAAAAAAAWk/ny39WagnkTo/s1600/100_1545.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631148498825977794" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yDO--Cap5dI/TiXbuX3_H8I/AAAAAAAAAWk/ny39WagnkTo/s200/100_1545.JPG" /></a></div><div> Step four, the center! Take one of your three little petals and roll it in to a loose tube shape. Holding it in place, wrap it with another small petal, and then the final petal. Sew together by running the needle through the tube several times. If the center seems to be too tall, cut the bottom to shorten it. <font id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">Whipstitch</font> the whole thing to the center of your flower petals.</div><div> </div></div></div></div></div></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--OuWvBpY3kQ/TiXdPf9lr3I/AAAAAAAAAWs/5Ggb3blfGV4/s1600/100_1544.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631150167444270962" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--OuWvBpY3kQ/TiXdPf9lr3I/AAAAAAAAAWs/5Ggb3blfGV4/s200/100_1544.JPG" /></a></div><div> Now for the magic part! The first time I made this flower it was lacking shape. A lotus stands up more and the felt just wouldn't stay in place. I had bought fabric stiffener for a previous project and decided, why not? So I mixed 1/4 cup stiffener, with 1 cup warm water, put it in a spray bottle and magic happened. Make sure you have a dish <font id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">towel</font> under your flower, one you don't care about ruining. Spray until the fabric is damp but not soaked. The spray will leave spots at first but it dries clear. (I've only used lighter colors so far) Shape the petals after you've sprayed them. Let the flower dry overnight and it's done! Add leaves if you want then glue on a clip or comb. </div><div> Pretty right? I'm working on a magnolia right now using the same technique.</div></div></div>Margo Tinninhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14925552221802339052noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7070938951231177844.post-79064392081582924542011-07-06T12:17:00.004-05:002011-07-06T12:31:35.575-05:00Deep Apologies!<div><br /><div> I'm a liar! So, sorry! I've been missing for so long I know. Once the two things got out of school we took a week trip to Califorinia and I haven't had a moment to do anything it seems. That's a lie, too! I wanted to share some past gifts I've given my own mom. I try to give her something handmade, because a lot of my creativity comes from her!<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xfW5p5VLUoU/TcIrPobBRlI/AAAAAAAAAVI/cVhlXfC0zMI/s1600/Coin%2Bpurses.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 234px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603088433951098450" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xfW5p5VLUoU/TcIrPobBRlI/AAAAAAAAAVI/cVhlXfC0zMI/s320/Coin%2Bpurses.JPG" /></a> This is what I am giving her this year. A handmade <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">coinpurse</span>. They are very easy to make and pretty fast too. The fun part is coming up with a design for the outside.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rTyM4FryXfY/TcIrPVNcvJI/AAAAAAAAAVA/xcbyRLdhKBE/s1600/100_1314.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 230px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603088428793904274" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rTyM4FryXfY/TcIrPVNcvJI/AAAAAAAAAVA/xcbyRLdhKBE/s320/100_1314.JPG" /></a> This idea is one of my favorites. I took a vintage compact (a new one will work too) and sized a picture of the two of us to fit it. You can seal it with Mod <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">Podge</span> or thin plastic.</div><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qPC_6aa1wKQ/TcIqxBDZuwI/AAAAAAAAAU4/H8gMgsA-kvs/s1600/100_1181.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 243px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603087907986979586" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qPC_6aa1wKQ/TcIqxBDZuwI/AAAAAAAAAU4/H8gMgsA-kvs/s320/100_1181.JPG" /></a><br />Here is a necklace that is great for any mother. A lovely bird's nest made from wire. All you need is the chain and three beads. I used a white pen to draw spots on my 'eggs'. </div><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cBHMZFHhenw/TcIqw0yY_dI/AAAAAAAAAUw/T-QNZ7CuFhk/s1600/100_1311.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603087904694402514" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cBHMZFHhenw/TcIqw0yY_dI/AAAAAAAAAUw/T-QNZ7CuFhk/s320/100_1311.JPG" /></a> Pillow? If your mom is anything like mine, she loves decorative pillows. There are oodles of tutorials online for felt pillow. I didn't even have to buy a pillow form. I took measurements of one of the existing pillows on her couch. Bonus, you get to know she uses it.</div><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7BGwavAMLM0/TcIqwiS16-I/AAAAAAAAAUo/AzH7rlSPVAw/s1600/100_1281.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603087899730242530" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7BGwavAMLM0/TcIqwiS16-I/AAAAAAAAAUo/AzH7rlSPVAw/s320/100_1281.JPG" /></a> How do you feel about <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">personalized</span> nesting dolls? These were actually a Christmas gift for my mother. I have a very talented cousin who was able to paint these for me. My idea, his talent. Order your own <a href="http://http//benrumback.blogspot.com/">here</a>. He also does peg people!<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y7dx3KILWIA/TcIqwT0JdpI/AAAAAAAAAUg/d3rY6SDuFXY/s1600/100_1280.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 233px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603087895843403410" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y7dx3KILWIA/TcIqwT0JdpI/AAAAAAAAAUg/d3rY6SDuFXY/s320/100_1280.JPG" /></a> Lastly, I made silhouettes of the grand kids for her. Pretty easy with <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-error">photoshop</span>. The hardest part was getting a profile picture of the kids. Speaking of, I'll have to make to more of these! My brother has another son and my sister is expecting. Mother's day next year is covered!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>I hope you all have a wonderful day. Remember the most important gift you can give your mother, is a thank you. Speaking as a mother those two words mean <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_4" class="blsp-spelling-error">a lot</span>. That, and sleeping in!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Daughter, Mother, Wife, Sister,</div><br /><div>Margo<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></div><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div>Margo Tinninhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14925552221802339052noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7070938951231177844.post-89149817823279421222011-04-24T12:01:00.003-05:002011-04-24T12:03:57.211-05:00Happy Easter!<div align="left"></div><br /><div align="left"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8455dd9x73g/TbRXq3wRmsI/AAAAAAAAATA/uTLeJsZahBc/s1600/100_1277.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599196630760921794" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8455dd9x73g/TbRXq3wRmsI/AAAAAAAAATA/uTLeJsZahBc/s320/100_1277.JPG" /></a> These lovelies were dyed using neckties. Between a six day visit from my in laws and having an new heater/<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">air conditioner</span> installed, well life's been busy. Now that things are finally settling down I plan to get some much needed crafting and blogging done. Thanks for your patience!<br /><br /> Today's tutorial is for this lovely spring flower <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">hair clip</span>. The weather has finally started to warm up and I'm thinking on all things spring. This clip looks much more complicated than it actually is, lucky you!<br /><br /><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h4LWewdx0oA/TX6FShlt6mI/AAAAAAAAAS4/YeyulD5pFTg/s320/0521091155a.jpg" /></div></div><p>*Sorry for the picture quality, forgot to charge up my good camera*</p><div><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583319868983516706" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5v3Kgmg79Oo/TXvv1tIkniI/AAAAAAAAARg/b2oo-KvwNTA/s320/DSC00004.JPG" /><p> First thing, gather your materials: A sheet of felt, I use regular eco felt most of the time, but decided to try the stiffened felt this time ( I like to finished look of the stiffened, but it's a pain to work with), you need a needle and thread the same color as your felt, scissors, a spring back clip, and hot glue or E6000.</p><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5pkjzgdmIKU/TX6FSe8y4jI/AAAAAAAAASw/8ZLarUEpnMs/s320/petal%2Bpattern.jpg" /></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"> After you've gathered your supplies you need to draw three size petals for a pattern or print off mine here. I cut five of the largest, four of the medium and three of the smallest.</div><div><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 237px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583319876238383906" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IhodjsDhVME/TXvv2IKRGyI/AAAAAAAAARo/V1baDuIxw5U/s320/DSC00005.JPG" /> Once all the petals are cut, take one of your largest petals and sew a running stitch across it, mine is usually just two stitches. Continue stringing on the remaining large petals like so.<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 235px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583319880299107586" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gkbDfxEJ3TQ/TXvv2XSa1QI/AAAAAAAAARw/2bTpi1Die-g/s320/DSC00006.JPG" /><div align="justify"><br /> Now pull your thread tight and "shape" the petals as you do so they gather in the right places. Either tie your two ends together or make a connecting stitch and tie it off. The finished should look like this.</div><div align="justify"><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 238px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583348906921712466" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vKtyoQ6vAcI/TXwKP74iW1I/AAAAAAAAASY/ErYA9UySu0A/s320/DSC00007.JPG" /><p> Complete the remaining petals in the same fashion. </p><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 236px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583350212988145010" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--LkAxPCrNqc/TXwLb9XCjXI/AAAAAAAAASg/cYe3J3fbs-k/s320/DSC00008.JPG" /><br /> All that's left is to glue them together largest to smallest. Use pins if necessary to hold while the glue cools/dries. Once that's done flip it over and attach the spring back clip using the petals to hide it.</div><div align="justify"><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hsVapVHeJ-I/TXxMkH5xuiI/AAAAAAAAASo/dP_IqGl5Fvk/s1600/DSC00009.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583421821512956450" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hsVapVHeJ-I/TXxMkH5xuiI/AAAAAAAAASo/dP_IqGl5Fvk/s320/DSC00009.JPG" /></a><br /> Done! If you want you can add leaves to the back or use a bigger clip and attach two flowers. I hope you enjoyed the how to, see you next time!<br /><div><p> Loving Life,</p><p> Margo<br /></p><div><br /></div></div><div></div></div></div></div>Margo Tinninhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14925552221802339052noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7070938951231177844.post-36142090601112196012011-02-08T20:49:00.010-06:002011-02-08T21:38:55.723-06:00Button Purse Tutorial<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" ><u><br /></u></span></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TVIEZMcCQLI/AAAAAAAAAP4/I5Q4zUUD2oo/s1600/100_1219.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TVIEZMcCQLI/AAAAAAAAAP4/I5Q4zUUD2oo/s320/100_1219.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571520519892779186" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Sweetest Readers,</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Sorry it's been so long! Like much of the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">midwest</span> snow has cramped my style. I've been occupied with having Thing 1 and 2 home from school. Snow days used to be so great. Now...well, it's great sleeping in, but by 1 PM I'm tired of yelling, "Leave your brother alone!" and "One more time and <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">there'll</span> be trouble!" You understand. </div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I did get some work on Valentines done. Remember the felt valentine I posted <a href="http://margoiscrafty.blogspot.com/2011/01/here-comes-valentine.html">here</a>? I wanted so badly to make them, but knew I wouldn't have time. I decided to make them with construction paper with the Things. Here's how they turned out.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TVICHE-vIrI/AAAAAAAAAPo/OJc3CDgxPRM/s320/100_1216.JPG" style="text-align: left;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571518009629942450" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Not bad. I only had them make them for their teachers and the secretary. Oh, and the lunch lady. My mother was a lunch lady for 13 years, so I always try to include gifts for them during holidays. Please, remember your lunch help, they are among the list of under-appreciated!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>On to the tutorial! Start with a simple clutch purse. Mine cost me 25 cents at the thrift store. Make sure your clutch has a clean flat surface. Start gathering buttons. Since mine was tan, I went with browns for my buttons. Once you feel you've got enough, gather more! Trust me, I had to search several times to find enough that matched.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Next, decide what kind of pattern you want on your purse. I've done all sorts. The one I did was with stripes, so that's what this tutorial will show. Be creative! I used a washable marker and a ruler and made stripes going diagonally across the purse.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TVIFHeP8PUI/AAAAAAAAAQA/A1Qu34rrqcg/s320/100_1218.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">free handed</span> the space between my lines, but you might measure if this concerns you. Now, start laying out your buttons on the clutch. I used various sizes of buttons. This is how my looked.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TVIF0Dt3wvI/AAAAAAAAAQI/TfwV7QFsg2o/s320/100_1217.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I had to do a lot of switching around to make my buttons look just right. I'm sure I could have done this without making the stripes with identical buttons, but I had enough to, so I did :)</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Once you've got the buttons how you like them, transfer them in to piles next to the purse, careful not to mix them up! Grab your E6000 adhesive and start gluing. I have tried this with hot glue as well, and it's just not as clean. Once your buttons are attached, let it set. Simply wash off the marker and your ready to carry this lovely around!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Oh, make sure your marker comes off. I used a crayola washable marker, and it *ahem* wouldn't wash off. I was very peeved. I used, dish soap, hand soap, Windex and some cleaning spray called Awesome. Nothing worked! Just when I had given up hope...I tried something totally out of the box, TOOTHPASTE! It took the marker right off! I don't <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">recommend</span> this for a cloth purse, but on the leather it worked a miracle. Pretty cool, huh?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I hope you enjoyed this how-to. It's a simple craft with stunning results. Zing the idea came to me! Sometimes it happens that fast. What an adorable hair bow this would make. Can I do it? Of course. Here's the finished look;</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TT9ts2wP5TI/AAAAAAAAAPc/aeV-zNKVYig/s1600/measuring%2Btape.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TT9ts2wP5TI/AAAAAAAAAPc/aeV-zNKVYig/s320/measuring%2Btape.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5566288281832777010" /></a><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>To make this delight all you need is cloth measuring tape, atleast 7", fray check, glue, scissors, and a bobby pin (needle and thread is optional).<div><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TT9s9WDkpRI/AAAAAAAAAO8/qJfsCIMj8fo/s320/100_1191.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Start by getting all of those pesky creases out of the measuring tape. You can iron them out, or if you're impatient like me, I used wrinkle releaser. Once smooth, measure out six inches of the tape. Now, run a bead of the fray check along all the edges and let dry also check the extra inch. Next, loop the tape and glue the ends together like so;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TT9s9j_d-QI/AAAAAAAAAPE/Ttj5rclBRdA/s320/100_1194.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>After the glue has dried pinch the loop together in the middle to make a bow shape. Two! I've been wrangling Thing 1 and Thing 2 for two days trapped inside. We've played <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Legos</span>, Play <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Doh</span>, and admittedly watched way too much <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Scooby</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Doo</span>. Speaking of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Scooby</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Doo</span>, I loved him since childhood. As an adult I still watched the episodes on Cartoon Network. But now, thanks to my children, he's really getting on my nerves! Funny how sharing something with your kids can somehow ruin it. Anyway... I did find a lovely idea over on I am Momma hear me roar. She showed adorable pictures of her son <a href="http://iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com/2011/01/snowing-coloring.html">snow coloring</a>. Simply putting water and small drops of food coloring in squirt guns occupied my kids for an hour out in the snow. Lots of fun!</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>While I've been <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">home bound</span> with kids, its been hard to craft during the day as per usual. I have found time to peruse the i<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">nternet</span> looking at others craftiness. I thought I'd share some lovely Valentine's Day crafts with you. Maybe you can find time to make them!</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Look at this adorable fox!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TS_kmu9r2yI/AAAAAAAAAOs/ksJva0vj9Wg/s320/fox.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I</span> love him. We are going to start at Step 3, only this time we are cutting all the way to the end. This leaves you roughly fourteen long loops. Now, pick up a loop and begin winding it around your hand like so:</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TSpu69gHROI/AAAAAAAAAOM/VT08uCItqMY/s320/100_1146.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>You don't want to wrap too tightly or too many times. This will effect how long your scarf turns out. So, I did six times. Now, slide these loops off your hand and leave them in a neat pile.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TSpu7Py75EI/AAAAAAAAAOU/2af34rFfyBU/s320/100_1145.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Continue winding all fourteen or so of your loops. Once you've got them all done it's time to join them. Using some of your left over t-shirt fabric, cut 3" by 1" strips. Grab two of your loop stacks and tie them together using this small strip.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TSpu7aDF5VI/AAAAAAAAAOc/QQoNuJ3xiJc/s320/100_1147.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Continue doing this until all of your loops are connected. Voila! All done and a new spin on the scarf. This look is definitely more deconstructed and edgy. I like both, but this one is more fashion forward. Hope this gave you some ideas on how to add a new twist to the previous tutorial. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>As always I love to read your comments and see your projects. I'm giving away one of my secrets so get ready! This is a simple jersey scarf made from a plain t-shirt. I get mine for $1-$2 at the thrift store. That is all this craft will cost you!</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Here's what you need: an old men/women's XL t-shirt (XXL works too), scissors, and a flat space to work. Easy, right?</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TSPztL_TX6I/AAAAAAAAANU/hgH8L3zU4Gs/s320/100_1135.JPG" /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Step 1. Lay the shirt flat and line up the hem. Now cut straight across (or as close to straight as you can) from one armpit to the other. Cut the hem off too. They don't have to be exact.</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TSP0kJmliAI/AAAAAAAAANk/4vlzNSgDYvk/s320/100_1139.JPG" /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Step 3. We now have long loops that are all attached at one end. Let's make them longer! Grab one loop and holding the uncut edge in the other hand, streeeeeetch. Your fabric should curl and stretch. Continue with all of the loops.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TSP1h-1aJwI/AAAAAAAAAN8/VAiY_Df3AYw/s320/100_1143.JPG" /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Step 5. Easy!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TQg2hE1UcxI/AAAAAAAAAM4/QHB5ODkpqwI/s320/buttons.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Button Earrings</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Most of you can probably do without a tutorial on these cuties! Take an earring post, add E6000 glue, press button on, and let dry. Good thing I make these regularly, so no problem having posts and backs in the house.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTK4QQXSPRweXUXQ2jlzQ4wn-ZCeavWYlF42eX2JE2BUB7wRBYC" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Record Bowl</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>You've probably seen one of these before! I made two of these to send to school tomorrow. I'm not sure if anyone will want them. I actually have one I made, that is perfect for throwing my mail into. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Lastly, I made a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">placemat</span> purse a couple of weeks ago that I was going to sell in my shop. I wasn't thrilled with the unfinished edges so I couldn't really put a price on it. Therefore, it becomes a gift. I had found a tutorial ages ago that gave me the idea for it. I will probably put up my own here shortly since I didn't use one anyway. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Sorry for the frantic blogging, but I'm running on adrenaline! Every year at my children's school they put on an "Angel Store". This is a chance for the kids to buy gifts for their parents, siblings and so on. The school asks that each family send in six handmade gifts for the store. The items are all put together to form the shop. Then the kids purchase items for low amounts. Nothing is priced over $5.00. Pretty neat, right? </div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>As you've noticed, I've been sick. Well, guess what? The six items are due on Friday! How many do I have made? You guessed it....NONE! Time to roll up my sleeves and get these made. I'm going to share them with you as I complete them. Ready?</div><div><br /></div><div>Craft 1 Sleeping Mask</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TQawOx6bXfI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/gL07gIFOFJ0/s320/100_1011.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Here's what we need:</div><div style="text-align: left;">- 2 12x6 scraps of fabric (can be same color)</div><div style="text-align: left;">- 10inches elastic </div><div style="text-align: left;">- needle and thread/ sewing machine</div><div style="text-align: left;">- 30 <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">mins</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>First thing, make a pattern, or use mine. Just copy and change the image size to 10x6.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TQaxXxjY7LI/AAAAAAAAAMY/cicn1vZwEC8/s320/mask.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Next we cut out two of these and mark where the elastic band will need to be. ( Make sure you mark on the wrong side of the fabric). Place your two masks right sides together with the elastic sandwiched in between. Like so:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7fxsnSCL5zA/TQayd9fpgkI/AAAAAAAAAMg/Ef0SnecclIo/s320/100_1013.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Be sure that your elastic is laying flat. A twist in it will ruin your mask! Now, simply pin all the way around. Starting at the nose, stitch around your mask leaving and opening to turn it right side out. I did mine by hand, but the machine will work even better. Once we've turned the mask right side all that's left is to stitch up the opening. I made these once before and put dried herbs inside to promote relaxation. You can also stuff them with some batting or add a layer before you stitch the sides together. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Not bad, right? Simple, thoughtful and homemade. What more could you want in a gift? Now I've got to start brainstorming on the other five gifts! Feel free to share your ideas for last minute handmade goodies! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Happy Crafting,</div><div style="text-align: left;"> Margo</div>Margo Tinninhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14925552221802339052noreply@blogger.com2
